Ariana Grande Clarifies Plans for New Music Before Eternal Sunshine Tour

Ariana Grande is setting the record straight regarding the timeline for her next musical era. Following a recent profile that suggested a specific window for new releases, the vocalist took to social media to refine the narrative.
In an interview with Variety published on Friday, January 9, the multi-hyphenate star delved into her experience with the Wicked film franchise, her upcoming Eternal Sunshine Tour, and whether fans could expect fresh material soon.
The initial report quoted Grande as saying, “Nothing is coming before May,” while jokingly asking fans if they believed a “clone” of her existed with enough spare time to pen a new album. She reportedly concluded with a hint that new music would arrive “soon enough.”
However, shortly after the article’s release, the “Yes, And?” singer engaged with a fan post on Instagram to provide a correction. Grande clarified that she never specified a month or used the phrase “soon enough.” She humorously attributed the miscommunication to a “zoom glitch,” adding that to manage her current workload, she would “need an extra brain and four more arms.”
This clarification comes as Grande continues to ride the wave of her seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine. Released in March 2024, the project enjoyed a three-week residency at the summit of the Billboard 200. While she prepares to take the album on the road this year, her schedule remains dominated by her transition into major cinematic roles.
Beyond her acclaimed portrayal of Glinda in Wicked and its sequel, Wicked: For Good—which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress—Grande has several high-profile projects in the pipeline. She is slated to appear in the comedy Focker In-Law, join the ensemble of the latest American Horror Story season, and lend her voice to the animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
Amidst this whirlwind of activity, Grande also teased an enigmatic new venture. “I can’t say much yet, but it’s something that inspires me deeply,” she told Variety. “It contains multitudes.”
