Ariana Grande is officially entering a vibrant new chapter of her career. On Tuesday (April 28), the global pop sensation delighted fans by announcing her eighth studio album, Petal, sharing both the official release date and a striking cover reveal across her social platforms.
The album’s aesthetic is understated and sophisticated, featuring a black-and-white portrait of Grande. The imagery captures a rare, intimate look at the star with her hair worn down, cascading in natural brunette waves as she offers a radiant smile. Grande noted that Petal—a collaborative effort written and produced alongside longtime partner Ilya—is set to arrive on July 31.
According to official pre-save details on Spotify, the upcoming record will comprise 12 tracks. Speaking on the project’s inspiration, the Grammy winner described Petal as a celebration of vitality, focusing on the resilience required to “grow through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.”
This release arrives on the heels of 2024’s chart-topping Eternal Sunshine, which dominated the Billboard 200 and delivered massive hits like “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).” Grande is currently finalizing preparations for her upcoming concert tour, which kicks off June 8 and culminates in a ten-show residency in London throughout September.
While the Wicked star previously hinted at prioritizing her acting career over new music, she began dropping subtle hints of her return to the recording studio earlier this month. The speculation reached a fever pitch after fans discovered a clever easter egg in her “Brighter Days” hotline, where she teased, “We’re counting down the 8s — oops! I mean, the days.”
