Arc Raiders Devs Fix Discord Tracking Bug and Manually Send Stuck Players into Expeditions
The development team has unexpectedly found themselves embroiled in a “surveillance” controversy.
Embark Studios, the creators of Arc Raiders, have faced mounting scrutiny recently. The issue traces back to a promotional event in March, where players were required to link their Discord accounts with their Embark Studios profiles to claim an exclusive in-game reward.
A tech analyst brought attention to a concerning aspect of this integration, noting that the Discord SDK utilized by the game was harvesting an “excessively high volume of data” from users’ systems.
The developers moved swiftly to address these privacy concerns, deploying an urgent technical hotfix:
Furthermore, the studio has manually resolved a glitch affecting players who were “stuck” while attempting to start an Expedition (the game’s voluntary progress reset mechanic). Impacted users should now find their accounts correctly transitioned and ready for their next journey.
