The 2026 FIFA World Cup roared to life in Canada on Friday, June 12, with a dazzling display of musical talent at Toronto Stadium. Ahead of the highly anticipated tournament opener between Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the stadium played host to an unforgettable opening ceremony featuring some of the nation’s most iconic voices.

The festivities commenced with a vibrant performance by Alessia Cara, who brought her 2016 anthem “Wild Things” to life. Emerging from a massive, gold-adorned soccer ball, Cara was joined by an ensemble of dancers who highlighted Canada’s natural beauty through interpretive choreography and striking visual art.

The global spirit of the tournament was on full display as singer Nora Fatehi, DJ Sanjoy, and rapper Vegedream energized the crowd with “Siir,” a standout track from the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack. The momentum continued as Elyanna and Jessie Reyez united for a breathtaking rendition of “Illuminate,” further showcasing the collaborative power of the world’s game.
