After a Seven-Year Run, This Provocative Netflix Anime Concludes with Its Final Season This March

The curtain is set to fall on Studio Orange’s celebrated anime adaptation of Beastars. The second installment of the final season is slated for a March release, bringing a definitive end to the saga that has captivated audiences for years. Reflecting on the production’s lengthy history, the studio took to social media to celebrate the culmination of a creative journey that began nearly eight years ago.
“With production kicking off in 2017 and the debut in 2019, this project has spanned four distinct cours,” Orange shared on X. They described the series as their most ambitious technical challenge to date, noting how the innovative expressions developed for Beastars influenced their other works—and vice versa. The global streaming premiere is officially locked for March 7.
Rooted in the narrative world created by Paru Itagaki, the series explores a complex sociological landscape where anthropomorphic carnivores and herbivores coexist under a fragile veneer of civility. The story centers on Legoshi, a reserved gray wolf grappling with his primal nature following a shocking murder at his academy. His life takes a transformative turn through his relationship with Haru, a dwarf rabbit, forcing him to navigate the thin line between predatory instinct and genuine affection.
In this final chapter, the narrative shifts as the characters venture beyond the walls of Cherryton Academy. Following his grueling confrontation with Riz, Legoshi attempts to forge a path on his own. Simultaneously, Louis must reconcile with his family’s dark legacy and his father, Ogma, while Haru navigates the complexities of young adulthood. The tension peaks as the Sublime Beastar Yahya pursues the elusive and dangerous hybrid criminal Melon—a manhunt that drags Legoshi into a conflict tied to his own family secrets.

As the final episodes unfold, the social fabric of Zebuth City begins to unravel under the weight of Melon’s calculated chaos. With the divide between species reaching a breaking point, Haru finds herself in the crosshairs of the criminal underworld. Legoshi and Louis are eventually drawn back together, heading toward an inevitable clash to neutralize Melon and restore order. In a world defined by the struggle for identity and acceptance, they must finally decide what kind of future is worth fighting for.
The final season of Beastars returns to Netflix this March.
