After 12 Years, Starbreeze Ends Support for Payday 2 — Modders Now Maintain the Shooter and a New Patch Is Incoming

Payday 2 will continue to receive support from the modding community.

Starbreeze recently returned to Payday 2 to announce changes. The studio is partnering with modders from Sidetrack, who will now take over support for the cooperative shooter:

“Sidetrack (formerly known as MUG Team) is a skilled group with deep roots in the PAYDAY modding community. Their work on RAID: World War II demonstrated they have the expertise and determination required to deliver high-quality updates over an extended period. They know the PAYDAY 2 engine inside and out, and have already begun work.”

It is expected that the first update from the modding team will arrive on October 23 — it is intended to “improve game stability and enhance the overall player experience.”

Starbreeze itself can now fully concentrate on the development of Payday 3.
