Actor Clair Obscur Ready to Lose to Megabonk at The Game Awards

Actor Ben Starr, who voices Verso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, says he’s prepared to “let Megabonk win” at The Game Awards, even though Megabonk has been officially withdrawn from the competition.

Starr and Jennifer English, the voice of Mael, discussed the French JRPG’s success in a segment for Future Games Show. The title from Sandfall Interactive picked up seven honors at the Golden Joystick Awards and earned 12 nominations at The Game Awards. When asked how many awards Clair Obscur will take home, the actors answered, “I don’t know.”

Starr quipped:

It’ll be beaten by Megabonk in all 19 categories.

The actor emphasized the core idea:

I’m absolutely certain of this and will stand by it throughout my career: a game doesn’t need trophies to be genuinely excellent. Your experience with a title — how you play and perceive it — matters far more.
A game that’s someone’s “Game of the Year” can be another’s least favorite. That’s the beauty of personal taste.
