A Strange New Way to Stream Fallout Season 1 for Free Right Now

Streaming platforms keep finding creative ways to deliver shows straight to your living room. To coincide with the upcoming second season of Fallout, Samsung has partnered with Xbox and Bethesda Softworks to offer a timely treat: Samsung TV Plus subscribers can stream the entire first season of Fallout without a subscription, ahead of Season 2’s Dec. 17 premiere on Prime Video. If the new season matches the quality of the first, you might be itching to jump into a Fallout game as soon as the credits roll — and Samsung is making that easier, too.

From Dec. 3 through Christmas, Season 1 will be available free on Samsung TV Plus, the FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) service that comes preinstalled on Samsung TVs, many Samsung mobile devices, and even select smart appliances. As a FAST platform — similar to Tubi and Pluto TV — expect ad breaks during the stream. Meanwhile, the latest Fallout 76 update is playable through the Xbox app on the Samsung Gaming Hub, since the app runs natively on compatible browsers, mobile devices, and LG/Samsung smart TVs.

One fun crossover: Walton Goggins voices a character called The Ghoul in the Fallout 76: Burning Springs update. That character makes a cameo in post‑nuclear Ohio just before the events shown in the television series, creating a neat link between the game and the show.

Todd Howard of Bethesda explained that adapting Fallout for television was always intended to respect the games’ universe while introducing new narratives that expand it. Integrating The Ghoul into Fallout 76 underscores that interconnectedness, and bringing Walton Goggins on board adds a distinctive swagger to the character.

Adapted from one of gaming’s most iconic franchises, Fallout blends retro‑futuristic 1950s Americana with dark humor and bleak, imaginative worldbuilding. Two centuries after nuclear devastation, Vault dwellers reemerge into a strange, irradiated landscape full of oddities, danger, and surprising humanity. Season 2 continues from the first season’s explosive finale, carrying the story across the Mojave and into the neon-streaked ruins of a post‑apocalyptic New Vegas.

Fans can also engage with the franchise via Twitch: between Dec. 2 and Dec. 31, viewers who subscribe to — or gift a subscription to — any streamer broadcasting in the Fallout 76 category will receive an exclusive custom chat badge.

Looking ahead, there’s hope the 15th anniversary edition of Fallout: New Vegas will take inspiration from the Viva New Vegas mod and address some of the rough edges that can deter newer players, making it easier for newcomers to dive in when Season 2 draws fresh interest.
