‘A Beautiful Man’: Post Malone Dedicates Toronto Concert to Oliver Tree

During his concert at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium on Tuesday, June 16, Post Malone took a moment to honor his late friend and collaborator, Oliver Tree. In a deeply emotional tribute, Malone dedicated his performance to the singer and symbolically poured a drink on stage in his memory.

“Tonight serves as a celebration of the life of a truly beautiful human being,” Malone remarked in footage captured during the show. “He was a man I deeply admired—someone who inspired the world through his artistry, his heart, and his soul. We lost a beautiful individual in Oliver Tree.”

Oliver Tree, 32, tragically passed away following a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro on June 14. He was one of six victims in the accident. The innovative singer, songwriter, and producer had been traveling through South America as part of his extensive World’s First World Tour.

Reflecting on the loss, Malone shared, “I just want you to know, brother, that we love you so much. We are going to have a great night to honor your legacy.”

Born in Santa Cruz, California, in 1993, Tree carved out a unique space in music with his 2013 debut EP, Demons. He rose to significant prominence following his 2016 breakout track, “When I’m Down,” leading to a major-label partnership with Atlantic Records. His discography included acclaimed projects like Ugly Is Beautiful, Cowboy Tears, and his most recent release, April 2026’s Love You Madly Hate You Badly.

Beyond his musical output, Tree was iconic for his eccentric persona, signature bowl cut, and dark eyewear. He secured numerous chart successes, including the viral hit “Life Goes On” and his collaborative effort with Robin Schulz, “Miss You.”

Former partner and alt-pop artist Melanie Martinez also addressed the tragedy, expressing her grief on social media. “It is incredibly difficult to process the loss of someone with whom I shared such a formative chapter of my life,” she wrote. “I held such deep respect for his dedication to his craft.”

Post Malone continues his Big Ass Stadium Tour, which concludes in Salt Lake City on July 28 before he transitions to his international tour dates throughout the remainder of 2026.
