6 more major mods were removed at the request of Take-Two

As expected the situation with the removal of mods only worsened – now not only card envelopes, but also global modifications are banned. Yesterday resource moddb.com received a DMCA complaint and was forced to delete at least six large projects.

6 more major mods were removed at the request of Take-Two

GTA: Liberty City is the oldest removed mod. It was released in 2005, at the time of daring and mindless pirates who had the audacity to write warnings about responsibility for further distribution … (The disc of those years has survived, but the box, alas, no.)

The reasons for this massive sweep are still unknown, but the community has already begun to react to what is happening. GTA: Underground created by already announced that all work is frozen. Some authors of other modifications decided to end their “careers”, and our friend Vadim M. called the move of the copyright holder “Spit in the face”… And here you can not argue – Take-Two undertook to ruin one of the main reasons for the popularity of GTA and the longevity of the games in the series. The creation of modifications for Grand Theft Auto is a whole culture on which more than one generation of players has grown up. T2, on the other hand, shifting to business models for multiplayer games and intoxicated with financial success GTA Online, destroys the root connection and risks losing most of the R * fanbase.

We are confident that the strikes will continue in the coming days, and the news about this will become a banal listing of all the removed modifications.
