Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Sequel Announced With New Team Led by Original Director
The acclaimed Souls-like action RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is officially receiving a follow-up. Publisher 505 Games has announced that the upcoming project will be spearheaded by a newly formed development studio led by the franchise’s original director.
Following internal leadership conflicts, the original developer, Lenzee Games, was disbanded in April—just under a year after the title’s July 2025 launch. The sequel is now in the hands of Indolphinity, a fresh studio established by Wuchang creative director Xia Siyaun, with 505 Games returning as the publisher. This transition follows Digital Bros Group (505’s parent company) acquiring full ownership of the intellectual property earlier this spring.
“Through this strategic partnership, 505 Games and Indolphinity reaffirm their shared vision for the long-term potential of the Wuchang universe, while pledging to protect the authentic cultural identity of the IP,” stated the official press release. “All upcoming creative production will remain deeply anchored in China through close cooperation between the foundational creator and 505 Games, guaranteeing absolute continuity in artistic vision, quality standards, and execution.”
To support the endeavor, Digital Bros Group is establishing a dedicated Chinese subsidiary based in Chengdu to collaborate directly with Indolphinity. At present, the sequel has no official title, gameplay footage, or launch window.
Set against the backdrop of China’s turbulent Ming Dynasty, the original game follows Bai Wuchang, a fierce pirate afflicted by a cursed affliction granting her terrifying otherworldly powers. In our critical assessment, Game Informer awarded the title a respectable 7.75 out of 10, noting: "Wuchang: Fallen Feathers might not challenge the absolute titans of the genre, but it delivers a polished spin on familiar tropes, featuring clever combat customization and an innovative approach to dynamic difficulty." Earlier this year, 505 Games confirmed that the dark fantasy adventure surpassed the milestone of 5 million players globally.
Wuchang is far from the only demanding action-adventure title expanding into a franchise. Enthusiasts of the genre should also look into recent announcements for Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, Lords of the Fallen II, and Mortal Shell II.
