Witcher Fan Modder Studio Is Helping Develop The Witcher 3 Remaster
Hungarian development studio Geeksoft is assisting CD Projekt RED with the remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, lending specialized expertise on legacy versions of the REDengine.
In August, CD Projekt RED announced a remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt alongside a story expansion reveal. Prominent community modder HalkHogan, known for creating high-profile visual overhaul mods for the game, was previously confirmed to be contributing to the project.
In a recent interview with Game Developer, CD Projekt RED joint CEO Michal Nowakowski revealed an additional partnership with Geeksoft. The Hungarian studio employs mod creators and dedicated fans of the franchise who specialize in the version of REDengine that powers The Witcher 3.

CD Projekt RED initially contracted Geeksoft to develop modding tools for REDengine games. Following that collaboration, the company decided to enlist the studio for work on The Witcher 3 remaster as well.
Nowakowski explained that while both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt run on REDengine, each title relies on a different iteration of the technology. Due to those architectural differences, returning to the older engine build presents technical challenges that Geeksoft is helping solve.
The release of The Witcher 3 remaster is expected on September 29, 2026.
