This New Music Friday, May 1, brings a massive influx of fresh tracks, dominated by heavy hitters from the pop and country worlds.
Kacey Musgraves takes center stage today with the release of her album, Middle of Nowhere. The record features her current Billboard Hot 100 entry, “Dry Spell,” alongside impressive contributions from artists like Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, and Billy Strings. Meanwhile, Zara Larsson has unveiled Midnight Sun: Girls Trip, a remix collection packed with high-profile guests including Robyn, PinkPantheress, Shakira, and Kehlani.
The musical landscape is further enriched by the soundtrack for The Devil Wears Prada 2, spearheaded by Lady Gaga, as well as a deluxe expansion of Halsey’s acclaimed 2024 LP, The Great Impersonator. Additionally, North West—daughter of Ye and Kim Kardashian—has officially stepped onto the scene with her debut effort, N0rth4evr.
The week is also marked by substantial new projects spanning hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats, and beyond. Notable releases include new work from Isaiah Rashad (It’s Been Awful), The Black Keys (Peaches!), Asake (M$NEY), Maya Hawke (Maitreya Corso), Young the Giant (Victory Garden), and Tori Amos (In Times of Dragons), among many others.
On the singles front, the excitement continues with “Bring Your Love,” a collaborative track from Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter that was teased during the latter’s headlining set at Coachella. Bringing a sound reminiscent of the classic house vibes found in “Vogue,” the song serves as a promising preview of Madonna’s upcoming project, Confessions II. Alongside new offerings from Lady Gaga, the Devil Wears Prada 2 soundtrack features Sienna Spiro’s “Material Lover,” while Bella Poarch has returned with her latest single, “Ribcage.”
The surge of new music continues with an array of standout singles from artists like Labrinth, Chris Brown, Leon Thomas, Lizzo, Vince Staples, Bryson Tiller, Maroon 5, Bleachers, and a high-energy remix from DaBaby, Yung Miami, YKNIECE, and GloRilla.
