From pop and hip-hop to country, Latin, metal and K-pop — and even the occasional demon‑hunter soundtrack — this year’s Billboard 200 toppers span a remarkable range of styles. There’s something here for nearly every listener.
Since the start of 2025, twenty‑two different albums have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Two of those — SZA’s deluxe edition of SOS (originally released in 2022) and Kendrick Lamar’s GNX — originated in earlier years. Seven releases have lingered at the summit for multiple weeks: SZA’s deluxe, GNX, Bad Bunny’s Debí Tirar Más Fotos, Playboi Carti’s Music, Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem, the Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack and Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl.
For the tracking week dated November 22, 2025, Wallen and Swift lead the pack with 12 weeks and six weeks at No. 1, respectively. Bad Bunny’s latest has enjoyed four weeks atop the chart; Playboi Carti and SZA have logged three weeks each; and Kendrick Lamar and the Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack have spent two weeks at the summit. Notably, Showgirl set a new single‑week equivalent‑album sales record with 4.002 million units, surpassing Adele’s 2015 total for 25 (3.482 million).
Six of the year’s No. 1 albums also produced chart‑topping singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Lady Gaga’s Mayhem features her duet with Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile” (five weeks at No. 1); Kendrick Lamar’s GNX includes “Luther” with SZA (13 weeks); Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem yielded “What I Want” featuring Tate McRae (one week); Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend brought “Manchild” (one week); the Demon Hunters soundtrack includes “Golden” (eight weeks); and Showgirl spawned “The Fate of Ophelia” (six weeks).
Interesting crossovers occurred this year: several artists who climbed the Billboard 200 also notched Hot 100 No. 1s — in some cases not on their own album. SZA and Kendrick Lamar teamed on “Luther,” and Tate McRae, whose So Close to What gave her a first Billboard 200 leader in March, joined Wallen on “What I Want.” Travis Scott’s Jackboys 2 collaboration debuted at No. 1 on the 200 in July and earlier topped the Hot 100 with “4X4.” Kendrick Lamar additionally spent a week at No. 1 on the Hot 100 with his non‑album, Grammy‑winning single “Not Like Us.”
Below is a chronological list of every album that reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this year. Cast your vote for the release you think deserves the top spot — the fan‑picked winner will be announced on December 9, 2025.
