Unparalleled: The mysterious horror game OD will be “as scary as possible” and Hideo Kojima’s craziest project yet
The creator of the Metal Gear Solid series and head of Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima, struggled to secure backing for his latest horror game, OD. He told Entertainment Weekly that most companies rejected his concept because they found it too strange.
Kojima pitched the project to various large and emerging studios, but encountered the same hesitation from every one of them. He eventually received approval from Xbox gaming head Phil Spencer, who greenlit the development.
A new screenshot accompanied the interview, showing a dim yellow hallway with a vintage television set and a mysterious figure standing in a doorway. Many fans noted the visual similarities between this image and P.T., the demo for the cancelled Silent Hills project.
Details about OD remain scarce, though Kojima stated his goal is to evolve the horror genre. He intends for the game to surpass the fear levels achieved by previous titles.
