The ‘Terminator’ legend considered retiring before being offered a role on ‘Stranger Things’
The fifth season of Stranger Things could be Linda Hamilton’s final screen role, should the actress decide to retire.
The star best known for her iconic portrayal of Sarah Connor admitted she seriously considered stepping away from acting, but changed her mind after receiving an offer from Netflix. In the fifth season of Stranger Things, Linda Hamilton will portray Dr. Kaye — a government agent hunting Eleven.
“I began discussing retirement with my agent. I was having serious hip problems and thought: if I can’t work at full capacity, I don’t want to be in front of the camera anymore.”
Hamilton says that just a couple of months after that conversation, her agent received an offer from Netflix — and immediately accepted.
“He didn’t even check with me — he simply said yes. Then we had a Zoom meeting with the Duffer brothers, who were incredibly kind.”
As a result, the actress will be seen on screen at least one more time before she ultimately steps away from acting.
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will conclude the show’s main storyline. Volume One is set to arrive on Netflix on November 27. Fans of Hawkins won’t be left wanting, however: the streamer has already announced an animated spinoff, Stranger Things: Tales from 1985, which takes place between the third and fourth seasons of the original series.
