Star Wars Racer Revenge has transcended its status as a mere collector’s item.

Recently, physical copies of Star Wars Racer Revenge for the PS4 have surged back into the limelight. This renewed fascination isn’t driven by the game’s mechanics, but rather by a specific technical vulnerability found within this particular version of the software.

This limited edition of the Star Wars podracing title was published several years ago by Limited Run Games. The total circulation is estimated to be quite scarce, with only about 8,500 units ever produced.

A developer working on a potential jailbreak for PS5 firmware version 12.0 revealed that a copy of Star Wars Racer Revenge is a key requirement for compromising the system. It appears that an exploitable flaw within the game serves as a gateway to bypass Sony’s security.

The market responded instantly: while these discs were trading for roughly $20 on eBay until recently, asking prices have now skyrocketed, with some listings reaching as high as $380.
