In his signature style of direct-to-fan updates, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has shared an exciting scheduling change for the highly anticipated live-action The Legend of Zelda motion picture. Rather than waiting until the previously announced date of May 7, 2027, audiences can now look forward to seeing the kingdom of Hyrule brought to life on the big screen one week earlier, on April 30, 2027.
“The production team is working diligently to bring this film to fans as swiftly as possible. With less than a year remaining until the premiere, we appreciate your continued patience,” Miyamoto noted in his recent announcement via X. This marks the third adjustment to the film’s release window; initially slated for late March 2027, the project was briefly pushed to early May, but this new late-April date hopefully serves as the final milestone for the release.
This is Miyamoto. I would like to let you know that the worldwide theatrical release date for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda has been moved up to April 30, 2027, from May 7. The team is working hard to deliver the film to everyone as soon as possible.

The project, which was first unveiled in 2023, features Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor) stepping into the role of Link, with Bo Bragason (Renegade Nell) portraying Zelda. While further casting details remain under wraps, recent glimpses of the duo in costume have already begun to generate significant buzz. Helming the project is director Wes Ball, known for his work on the Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, promising an epic cinematic vision for the beloved franchise.
