The Driver Era Teases Airy New Song ‘The Weekend’

The Driver Era are just a month away from dropping their newest album, Obsession, on April 11. To celebrate, Billboard caught up with brothers Rocky and Ross Lynch amid their global tour to get a preview of one of the project’s unreleased tracks, “The Weekend.”

“You know I can’t help it/ But if I’m being honest/ I can’t make you any promises/ Of forever and ever/ And I’m not saying never/ Let’s just see what happens for the weekend,” the duo sing over a thumping piano melody in the carefree song.

Ross explains that the song is about having no expectations with a romantic interest. “It’s this wanting to connect with someone and be close to someone, but also having a fear of commitment,” he tells Billboard. “So, it’s just like, ‘Hey, I’d like to grow close to you, but let’s not go too crazy about it. Let’s just enjoy the weekend and see what happens.’”
