Summer Game Fest is a season defined by high-stakes reveals, trailers, and the thrill of the “shadow drop”—where a project releases without warning on the very day it is announced. This year, fans were treated to exactly that, though the news emerged slightly ahead of schedule: the Among Us animated series has officially touched down on Paramount+.
The announcement took center stage at SGF, introduced by voice actors Yvette Nicole Brown and Liv Hewson, who lend their talents to the roles of Orange and Black. Staying true to the source material, the narrative follows a crew of space-faring teammates as they struggle to survive against a deadly, shape-shifting imposter lurking among them. The production boasts a stellar ensemble cast:
- Orange: Yvette Nicole Brown
- Cyan: Kimiko Glenn
- Black: Liv Hewson
- Purple: Ashley Johnson
- Lime: Wayne Knight
- Brown: Phil Lamarr
- Red: Randall Park
- Blue: Dan Stevens
- Yellow: Debra Wilson
- Green: Elijah Wood
- White: Patton Oswalt
Helmed by Owen Dennis—the creative mastermind behind Infinity Train—the show is a collaborative effort between CBS Studios and Innersloth, the original architects of the Among Us phenomenon.
Having had the opportunity to preview the full season, I can confirm that a deep-dive review is on the way. The series masterfully balances dark comedy with murder-mystery tropes. While seasoned players will spot plenty of “in-game” nods, the narrative is accessible enough for newcomers to enjoy. It is worth noting that while the aesthetic and humor have a broad appeal, the tone leans toward a PG-13 audience, featuring occasional coarse language and the signature, cartoonish, low-stakes gore fans have come to expect.
