In Fallout 3 the developers left a hint that pointed toward Fallout 4. Some players believe the same kind of foreshadowing may have been placed in the franchise’s fourth main title — a subtle nod toward a future Fallout 5.
Recently a user going by Sr_Redzen started a thread about a possible setting for Fallout 5. The community largely converged on “San Francisco” as the most likely candidate.
For example, HammondCheeseIII supports that location choice with the following reasoning:
“I think the [setting] could be San Francisco. They reconstructed the Golden Gate Bridge in Kellogg’s memory, and they also mentioned Shi [from Fallout 2] and the founding of the NCR. Besides, since the series focuses on the West, it would give Bethesda a chance to build a game set in that city — but within a transformed environment [setting].”
