A new Team Fortress 2 update is live and will install automatically the next time you restart the game. Major changes include:
Scream Fortress XVII has arrived!
- Introduces five new community maps: Cowerhouse, Dusker, Afterlife, Devilcross, and Marshlands.
- Introduced the Spectral Stash Case:
- Contains 23 new community-crafted cosmetic items that form the Spectral Stash Collection.
- Has a chance to award one of four community-made Halloween‑restricted items as a bonus.
- May also grant a taunt Unusualifier as a bonus item.
- Added three new community-contributed taunts to the Mann Co. Store:
- Taunt: Heartbreaker
- Taunt: Healthcare Hog
- Taunt: Ring King
- Added 15 new community-created Unusual effects:
- Seven new effects for Unusual hats.
- Eight new effects for Unusual taunts.
- Every player who launches the game will receive a Soul Gargoyle if they do not already own one:
- Unlocks access to Merasmissions and Halloween item transmutations.
- Tracks Merasmissions completed and souls collected.
- All Halloween Contracts have been reset so they can be completed again.
- New Contracts have been added for this year’s featured community maps.
- Completing a Halloween Contract awards a classic Halloween item and a chance to receive a Spectral Stash Case.
- Continue last year’s event by filling your Soul Gargoyle with the souls of fallen players—earn souls by killing enemies, completing map objectives, or picking up Soul Gargoyles that spawn on the maps.
- During the event, all cosmetic and taunt Cases will grant Halloween 2025 Unusual effects instead of their normal effects (Crates are excluded).
- Join Halloween matches via the Special Events category in Casual.
- Scream Fortress XVII runs through November 7, 2025.
