Taylor Swift Celebrates Olympic Skier’s Engagement Using Her Own Song Lyrics

Taylor Swift is celebrating a golden milestone for Olympic skier Breezy Johnson, who recently announced her engagement to Connor Watkins. The pop icon played a subtle but poignant role in the couple’s romantic narrative, which unfolded on the world stage during the Winter Games.
On Thursday (Feb. 12), the 14-time Grammy winner shared a heartfelt message on Johnson’s Instagram announcement. The post captured the breathtaking moment Watkins proposed at the finish line of the 2026 women’s Super-G race. Adding a lyrical touch to the surprise, Johnson revealed that her engagement ring was presented in a wooden box engraved with a line from Swift’s track “The Alchemy”: “Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?”
Swift leaned into the sentiment by quoting another relevant lyric from the Tortured Poets Department track in the comments. “’Where’s the trophy? He just comes running over to me,’” she wrote, followed by a spirited, “CONGRATULATIONS!!!”
The engagement served as the perfect encore to Johnson’s athletic triumph in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. After securing a gold medal for Team USA, the skier introduced her new fiancé to her followers with a blend of humor and joy: “Hey guys… meet Connor! My ex-boyfriend! And current fiancé!!! Thank you to everyone who made this moment possible. It was everything I ever dreamed of. Kind of like Connor!”
Swift—who recently celebrated her own engagement to Travis Kelce this past August—has been a vocal supporter of the 2026 Winter Games. Earlier this month, she appeared in a dedicated video for NBC’s opening ceremony to honor the athletes’ perseverance.
“Learning your stories and witnessing your sacrifices, your determination, and your passion is truly inspiring,” Swift remarked in the video. “I am so grateful for the hard work you’ve put in to reach this moment and for letting all of us be a part of your journey.”
