Authorities have apprehended a suspect following reports of gunfire near the Los Angeles residence of R&B artist Chris Brown.

On Friday, May 1, law enforcement officers arrested an individual accused of discharging a CO2-powered handgun at a vehicle parked on a public street outside the singer’s home in the Tarzana neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley, as reported by TMZ.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrived on the scene around 4:00 p.m. following a distress call from a woman who reported the incident. The caller identified the individual as a man in his thirties who had aimed and fired at her automobile.

During subsequent questioning, the suspect claimed the confrontation began when the woman refused to vacate the premises. He further alleged that the altercation intensified after the woman purportedly drove over his foot, prompting his decision to discharge the weapon at her vehicle.

Fortunately, no physical injuries were sustained, and the woman involved required no medical intervention.

According to KTLA, the suspect—identified as 35-year-old Markeith Cungious—was taken into custody at the site of the incident. He has been booked on charges related to the discharge of a weapon and possession of a firearm in connection with an assault with a deadly weapon investigation.

Law enforcement officials noted that the device used was not a conventional firearm. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to process the details.

It remains unconfirmed whether Chris Brown was present at the residence during the incident or if he has any prior association with the parties involved. Billboard has reached out to representatives for the artist for a statement.

The incident occurs as Brown prepares for the upcoming release of his new studio album, Brown, slated for May 8. Additionally, the artist is finalizing preparations for a joint stadium tour alongside Usher, scheduled to commence on June 26 at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver.
