Surprise Major Free DLC Released for Resident Evil Requiem

It is an exciting day for Resident Evil Requiem enthusiasts: Capcom has shadow-dropped an entirely new minigame mode for the acclaimed survival horror title. Best of all, this substantial update is completely free and is accessible immediately across all platforms.

Titled Leon Must Die Forever, this mode plunges the protagonist into an unrelenting nightmare. As detailed in Capcom’s official YouTube announcement, players must navigate through a gauntlet of stages while unlocking specialized enhancer abilities to survive. This challenging new mode becomes available once you have completed the base campaign, which explains why the developers had previously encouraged players to progress through the story.

“This fast-paced experience offers a distinct departure from the core narrative, boasting immense replayability,” Capcom noted. “Can you endure the onslaught and overcome the final boss before time runs out?” For those seeking the ultimate test of skill, the mode features tiered difficulty settings, including an “extreme high-difficulty tier designed exclusively for the most seasoned players.”

Early impressions from the community have already begun to surface. According to Reddit user WinterOf98, the mode is “significantly more demanding than the Mercenaries mode in Resident Evil 4 and requires a deeper level of strategic planning—it’s incredibly fun.”

Looking ahead, this isn’t the final addition to Requiem. Back in March, game director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed that a story expansion is currently in the works, though he cautioned that development will take time and requested patience from the community.
