Although the flagship Stranger Things series concluded its narrative arc in early 2026, the expansion of the Hawkins universe is only just beginning. An upcoming animated spinoff is slated for an April release, and dedicated fans will have the exclusive opportunity to witness the spectacle in theaters before its global streaming debut.
The inaugural two episodes of Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 will enjoy a limited theatrical engagement on Saturday, April 18. This special preview event will span 34 select cinemas across the United States. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale this Wednesday at 11 a.m. EDT. Interested viewers can visit the AMC website to find participating locations and secure their seats.
Chronologically situated between the second and third seasons, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 revisits the iconic ensemble introduced nearly a decade ago. While Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Max, and Hopper all return to the screen, they will be portrayed by a new voice cast rather than their original live-action actors.
Adding a new dimension to the group is Odessa A’zion (Marty Supreme), who voices the newcomer Nikki Baxter. Showrunner Eric Robles noted to Collider that Nikki provides a “fresh perspective on the established status quo,” effectively disrupting familiar dynamics. Robles emphasized that her arrival introduces the Hawkins crew to a “chilling roster of supernatural threats” that differ significantly from any adversaries they have previously encountered.
Set against the backdrop of a biting Hawkins winter, the narrative finds the core group attempting to reclaim some semblance of a normal childhood. However, those aspirations are quickly derailed as horrors from the Upside Down resurface. Among these new terrors is a grotesque, multi-toothed entity with a visual design reminiscent of a nightmarish jack-o’-lantern.
For those unable to attend the theatrical preview, the wait for more Hawkins-based horror will be brief. Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 is set to premiere in full on Netflix on April 23.
