Though not officially labeled as a direct successor to the pod-racing cult classic Star Wars: Episode I – Racer, the newly announced Star Wars: Galactic Racer captures that same high-octane spirit. The title is being developed by Fuse Games, a studio comprised of industry veterans whose pedigree includes work on legendary racing franchises like Need for Speed and Burnout.
The reveal trailer highlights a diverse roster of both new and iconic vehicles, ranging from nimble speeder bikes to specialized racing craft. These machines are seen tearing through atmospheric environments, including the rusted remains of AT-AT graveyards, while a gravelly narrator proclaims that “the galaxy needs racing.”
Eagle-eyed fans also caught a glimpse of a Dug—who may very well be the notorious Sebulba—suggesting that familiar faces from the Star Wars underworld will play a role in the competition. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is slated to launch next year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
