Spider-Man Brand New Day Surpasses One Billion Dollars at Box Office

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office. It becomes the latest Marvel film to reach the milestone and cements its status as a massive theatrical hit.

The latest story in the saga of Peter Parker reached the milestone after just six days in theaters. According to Variety, the movie earned $407 million in North America and $645.8 million internationally for a worldwide total of more than $1 billion. The achievement followed a record-breaking opening weekend where Brand New Day earned $360 million domestically. That performance surpassed Avengers: Endgame to claim the biggest opening weekend in U.S. box office history before arriving in pricey IMAX theaters.

This achievement arrives as Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which stars Tom Holland, nears the $1 billion mark. That gives movie theaters two simultaneous billion-dollar juggernauts. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the fourth movie to hit a billion in 2026, joining Toy Story 5, Michael, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

The success is another reminder that Spider-Man remains one of Marvel’s most reliable draws. Spider-Man: No Way Home finished its theatrical run with nearly $2 billion worldwide, while Spider-Man: Far From Home also crossed the billion-dollar mark.

Brand New Day is the 12th Marvel movie to cross $1 billion worldwide. The club is led by Avengers: Endgame at nearly $2.8 billion, followed by Avengers: Infinity War at just over $2 billion, and Spider-Man: No Way Home at $1.93 billion. Before Brand New Day, the most recent Marvel film to reach the milestone was 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which earned $1.34 billion worldwide.

Polygon’s review called Spider-Man: Brand New Day a “grounded, emotional, and expertly crafted addition to the Spidey canon,” praising director Destin Daniel Cretton’s return to a more street-level Spider-Man story.

The blockbuster’s success has already had ripple effects beyond the box office. Following its record-breaking debut, Sony and IMAX announced that Spider-Man: Brand New Day would debut in IMAX theaters across North America beginning Aug. 6 after The Odyssey concludes its exclusive run in the premium format.

The movie has also reignited interest in Spider-Man’s video game adventures. In the days following the film’s release, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 all reached their highest concurrent player counts on Steam in more than a year as fans looked for another way to swing through New York City.

Brand New Day is the final Marvel movie before Avengers: Doomsday comes to theaters in December. The film appears to tee up several story threads that could have major consequences for Peter Parker and the wider MCU.
