Not everyone is pleased with the protagonist’s default appearance.
Many players of Silent Hill F were disappointed by the way the main heroine was portrayed.
The game used the likeness of model Konatsu Kato. After comparing photographs, some users such as andresot questioned the developers: “The real model is so beautiful. Why does the digital version look so ugly?”
sosbrigate93 chimed in: “True! It’s like they ruined all the characters.”
The modding community offered a remedy. diegohsu published a mod on Nexus Mods called More Kawaii Hinako, in which he adjusted the model to “achieve better facial symmetry, smooth the lower jawline, and slightly shorten the chin.”
There is also an alternative mod, Fatal Frame Style Hinako Face by mothercrone, which “gives Hinako a new face inspired by her Silent Hill F cover art, rendering her features softer and more doll-like. The design also draws influence from the heroines of the Fatal Frame series.”
