Selena Gomez Reveals Why She Was ‘Sobbing’ After Marrying Benny Blanco: ‘This Could All Be Gone Tomorrow’

Selena Gomez says she feels profoundly fortunate, yet she often expects that her good fortune might be fleeting.

Speaking on a panel at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conference in Washington, D.C., on October 15, Gomez described a persistent anxiety that everything she’s built — from her recent marriage to Benny Blanco to the success of her Rare Beauty brand — could vanish overnight.

She explained that when positive things happen she struggles to stay in the moment, instead slipping into a fear that “this could all go away tomorrow,” and finds herself calculating how to prevent that loss rather than simply celebrating the achievement.

Gomez added that even joyful milestones can trigger intense worry: after her September wedding she found herself overcome with emotion, confessing she was terrified something catastrophic might follow — she recalled thinking, “I’m gonna die the next day.”

Despite those anxieties, Gomez and Blanco remain united and well; their ceremony was attended by friends including Taylor Swift. Soon after they wed, Blanco posted photos of Gomez and affectionately wrote that he’d married a “real-life Disney princess.”

Meanwhile, Rare Beauty continues to perform strongly as it approaches its fifth anniversary. A recent Forbes profile noted that August marked one of the company’s best months in 2025, delivering double-digit year-over-year growth.
