Scary Teacher Video Game Adaptation in Development by Maleficent Producer
The viral mobile game Scary Teacher, which has surpassed 100 million downloads and generated billions of views on YouTube, is getting a feature film adaptation.
According to Deadline, former Disney and 20th Century Fox head Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum are developing the film.
Scary Teacher follows Miss T, a teacher who terrifies and punishes students Nick and Tanya. The characters decide to fight back by sneaking into the teacher’s house, dodging traps, pulling pranks, and gradually uncovering secrets hidden inside the building.
Scary Teacher became a hit thanks to its mobile version and YouTube videos. The game has been installed more than 100 million times on Google Play, and videos across various channels have accumulated billions of views.

Cory Todd Hughes and Adrian Speichert will write the script for the adaptation. The creators want to preserve the tension and dark humor of the original while making Nick and Tanya’s story more emotional:
“Everyone remembers at least one teacher who made school feel unbearable. Scary Teacher will let us explore familiar fears in an entertaining horror format and tell a coming-of-age story about overcoming fear and having the courage to stand up for yourself.”
The Scary Teacher adaptation is in early development. A director, cast, and release date have not been announced yet.
