Sabrina Carpenter Reflects on Hidden Easter Eggs in “Manchild” Music Video

Sabrina Carpenter enjoyed a monumental 2025, a year defined by the massive success of her Man’s Best Friend era. The journey began in June with the debut of her lead single, “Manchild,” which set the stage for her dominance in the pop landscape.

As the year winds down, the superstar is revisiting the cinematic visuals of that breakout hit in a newly released episode of “Vevo Footnotes.” During the segment, Carpenter reveals how she planted a subtle clue regarding her seventh studio album well before the project was officially announced to the public.

“I essentially hid the acronym for Man’s Best Friend on the motorcycle’s license plate,” Carpenter explained, pointing to a sequence where she and a co-star ride a bike featuring the tag “MBF_0000.” She admitted it was entertaining to watch the timeline play out, noting, “I didn’t see fans make the connection until after I announced the album.”

The “Manchild” music video premiered on June 6, just five days before Carpenter confirmed the arrival of Man’s Best Friend. The album eventually secured her second No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 and has since earned an Album of the Year nomination for the 2026 Grammys. Meanwhile, the chart-topping single “Manchild” remains a heavy contender for both Record and Song of the Year.

Beyond the hidden messages, Carpenter shared some behind-the-scenes trivia, noting that the stunts were quite authentic. She revealed that every man seen operating a vehicle in the video was actually driving, prompting her to jokingly “let Jesus take the wheel” while filming the high-speed scenes.

The singer also cited a legendary comedic influence for the video’s tone. “I consider Lucille Ball one of the pioneers of using humor as a superpower,” Carpenter noted. She explained that her recent songwriting has felt more resonant because it fully embraces that witty, spirited side of her personality.
