A strong mutual trust formed between Ryan Gosling and director Shawn Levy during their collaboration on an upcoming Star Wars project, paving the way for their next joint venture.

In an interview with People, Levy explained how he and Gosling decided to take on a new Ghost Rider film. After wrapping production on Star Wars: Starfighter, the actor shared his creative vision for the adaptation. Levy immediately embraced the concept, and the two soon pitched the project directly to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

“Literally six minutes into him explaining it to me, I said, ‘Yeah, let’s go. We’re doing this.’ Then we brought that idea to Kevin Feige, and here we are.”

Levy attributed such a quick decision to the creative rapport they established on Starfighter. Gosling served as an executive producer on the film and actively contributed throughout the production process.

“Gosling is a wonderful muse and an inspiring actor, but he is also a great partner. He thinks like a full-fledged filmmaker: he pays attention to the lighting, the fabric on the wall, and generally notices everything.”

Ghost Rider is scheduled to hit theaters on July 28, 2028. Before that release, Gosling and Levy will debut Star Wars: Starfighter in theaters on May 28, 2027.
