Rosé Gets Emotional Discussing Her Relationship Status and Toxic Past Relationships
As a global powerhouse and a defining voice of BLACKPINK, ROSÉ has spent years meticulously guarding her private life to shield her personal connections from the unrelenting glare of public scrutiny.
However, during her recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper, the “APT.” singer broke her silence. In a conversation that was both vulnerable and surprisingly candid, she delved into her current relationship status and reflected on past “toxic” dynamics—even as she visibly struggled with the pressure of the spotlight when asked if she was currently seeing someone.
“If I tried to say ‘No,’ it would be such a transparent lie,” the Grammy-nominated artist admitted, laughing at her inability to maintain a poker face. She eventually confirmed the news fans have been curious about: “I am looking for love.”
The conversation took a poignant turn as ROSÉ discussed the emotional toll of the K-pop industry’s dating taboos. She admitted that the fear of being reduced to a tabloid headline often keeps her from being open. “When you ask a question like that, all I can see are the articles and the comments,” she told Cooper. “It’s heartbreaking to think that my personal life might define my entire identity. It’s a sad reality to navigate.”
Wiping away tears, she added a powerful reminder of her own humanity: “Just because I’m part of a K-pop group doesn’t mean I’m a different species of human being.”
While she expressed a hopeful vision for a future where she doesn’t have to hide her affection, ROSÉ shared some of the extreme lengths she has gone to in the past to maintain her privacy. This included a bizarre yet effective “old lady” disguise, featuring a full wardrobe of vintage clothes and a gray wig.
“I would visit his house dressed as a grandmother because we couldn’t go out in public,” she recalled with a laugh. “At one point, I had an entire section of my closet dedicated to ‘granny’ clothes. I even practiced the walk to make it convincing.”
She also reflected on a past relationship that she now recognizes as “toxic,” characterized by a partner who intentionally excluded her from his social circles. “I was young and swept up in the feeling of being in love,” she explained. “He would tell me he wanted to hang out with friends without me there, and at the time, I mistook his desire for space as him being incredibly dedicated to his career. I actually thought it was hot.”
This rare glimpse into ROSÉ’s personal world comes at a monumental time in her career. Her highly anticipated mini-album, Deadline, is set to arrive on February 27. Additionally, she is currently making history as the first K-pop soloist to secure major nominations at the 2026 Grammys, competing for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her smash hit “APT.” featuring Bruno Mars.
