During The Game Awards 2025, Capcom stunned fans with a fresh look at Resident Evil Requiem, marking the return of a battle-hardened Leon S. Kennedy. This iteration of the iconic protagonist appears more weathered and experienced than ever before. In a follow-up interview with Automaton (via IGN), the development team delved into Leon’s substantial role in the sequel and his surprising new choice of transportation.

Director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed that the narrative will be a dual effort, with Leon and newcomer Grace Ashcroft sharing the spotlight. “The gameplay experience is split almost down the middle between Grace and Leon,” Nakanishi explained, noting that the pacing mirrors the episodic structure of Resident Evil Revelations.

This entry serves as a significant milestone for Leon, as it marks his first return to Raccoon City since the catastrophic events of Resident Evil 2. Nakanishi highlighted that observing how a veteran Leon navigates “the place where it all began” is a central theme of the story. The team also focused on his aesthetic evolution, aiming to portray him as a sophisticated, “ikeoji” (handsome older man), a design choice that has already garnered significant praise from the community.

In an unexpected twist, Leon will be traversing the world in a high-performance Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. Producer Masato Kumazawa revealed that this was the result of a formal collaboration with the luxury automaker. According to Kumazawa, the team sought a vehicle that complemented Leon’s character, leading to the creation of a custom, one-of-a-kind Cayenne tailored specifically for the gritty atmosphere of the game.
