Prince’s Musical Legacy Lives On: Estate Announces “Timeless” Archive Collection

Nearly ten years after his passing, the enigmatic genius of Prince continues to resonate. His estate has officially unveiled plans for Timeless, a sprawling new collection that mines the depths of his legendary vaults to bring fans previously unheard masterpieces.
Scheduled for a global release on August 28, this ten-track retrospective is anchored by the debut of “Stone”—a 1995 deep cut that is available for streaming starting today. Spanning from 1977 through 2016, the album serves as a definitive sonic timeline, capturing every quintessential era of the artist’s multifaceted career. The project also features the poignant 1991 recording “With This Tear,” which first surfaced as a teaser earlier this spring.
“Timeless captures the arc of Prince’s artistic journey, tracing his path from a teenage prodigy in Minneapolis to the masterful performer he remained until his final days,” the estate noted in a press statement. “This collection highlights the relentless curiosity and creative drive that fueled his life’s work, inviting listeners to explore hidden corridors of his unparalleled discography.”
Beyond digital platforms, Timeless will receive a physical rollout, featuring a limited-edition “Purple Marble” vinyl, a standard black vinyl pressing, and a CD release. Fans residing in Minneapolis can secure an early look at the project during the annual Prince Celebration, running from June 3–7 at Paisley Park and various downtown venues, where exclusive listening events will be hosted.
