Pokémon Go ‘Steeled Resolve: Taken Over’ 2026 Event Guide
The Pokémon Go “Steeled Resolve” event is set to take place from April 28 through May 4, 2026. This metallic-themed celebration shines a spotlight on Steel-type creatures and marks the long-awaited arrival of Orthworm, the Earth Eater Pokémon native to the Paldea region.
In addition to the event bonuses detailed below, don’t miss the chance to encounter Shiny Meltan. By activating your Mystery Box, you can hunt for this elusive, cable-tailed critter. Conveniently, you no longer need the Let’s Go titles on Nintendo Switch to secure a Mystery Box; simply transferring Pokémon from Pokémon Go to Pokémon Home will suffice.
Below is a comprehensive guide to the “Steeled Resolve” event bonuses, including expert tips on where to encounter Orthworm.
Update (April 30): We have updated this guide to reflect the latest details regarding the Team Go Rocket takeover segment of the event.
Pokémon Go “Steeled Resolve: Taken Over” Event Bonuses
This iteration of the Team Go Rocket takeover deviates from the traditional format. Instead of a dedicated Special Research questline to challenge Giovanni and rescue Shadow Landorus, trainers must either reach rank 30 on the event Go Pass or purchase the $4.99 deluxe upgrade to obtain a Super Rocket Radar. As is customary during these invasions, the combat rosters for Giovanni and the Team Go Rocket Leaders have been refreshed.
The following standard Team Go Rocket bonuses remain active until the event concludes on May 4:
- Increased frequency of Team Go Rocket encounters.
- Ability to use Charged TMs to purge the move “Frustration” from Shadow Pokémon.
- Enhanced stat variability for Shadow Pokémon found in one- and three-star raids.
Furthermore, trainers have a chance to encounter a Shiny Varoom, which is currently obtainable via 12km Team Go Rocket eggs.

How to find Orthworm in Pokémon Go
During its debut, Orthworm can be found exclusively through raid battles. It will be featured in three-star raids throughout the event. Keep a sharp eye out for its distinctive blue Shiny variant, as it will not be appearing in the wild or as a reward for research tasks.

Pokémon Go “Steeled Resolve” 2026 Event Go Pass Bonuses
Aligned with the Team Go Rocket “Taken Over” theme, this event’s Go Pass focuses on essential utility items, specifically Shadow Shards and Super Rocket Radars. It also offers multiple Meltan encounters, providing an alternative for trainers who prefer not to utilize the Mystery Box.
Additional milestone bonuses include:
- Rank 10: Double Catch Candy.
- Rank 20: Double Stardust from Team Go Rocket encounters.
