PlayStation Users Launch Global Campaign Against Sony Over Account Bans

DoesItPlay? and Stop Killing Games have announced their support for a Stichting Massaschade & Consument lawsuit against Sony in a Dutch court over the company’s complete control of prices in the PlayStation Store.

Sony has faced criticism for weeks due to its refusal to release new games on physical discs. Players have attacked PlayStation on social media and boycotted the company, which has not changed its plans.

Now a portion of the community has decided to move to legal action. DoesItPlay? and Stop Killing Games announced their support for a Stichting Massaschade & Consument lawsuit against Sony. The case is being handled by a court in the Netherlands and concerns the company’s complete control of prices in the PlayStation Store.

The organizers stated:

SM&C must now prove that it genuinely represents the interests of players. PlayStation owners in the Netherlands are being urged to officially join the case.

The organizers call the lawsuit merely “one of many fronts” and promise further actions. Against the backdrop of Sony’s refusal to issue physical releases, the struggle could extend far beyond the Netherlands.
