Sega has published updated sales figures for the Persona 5 lineup — the title that helped elevate Persona into a flagship series derived from Shin Megami Tensei. The company highlighted the franchise’s strong performance and the significant success it has brought to Atlus.
Persona was revitalized by the fifth installment, with interest surging after the popularity of Persona 4 Golden on the PlayStation Vita. Over the past eight years Atlus has effectively fashioned a mini-franchise in the vein of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII: three spin-offs, an enhanced edition, and a remaster of the original title. The outcome is notable — 13 million copies sold — a major leap for a brand that, at the start of the PS4 and Xbox One era, was primarily familiar to dedicated JRPG fans.
While Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal were unmistakable commercial successes, the spin-offs performed more modestly. Persona 5 Strikers accounted for the majority of those ancillary sales, whereas Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight and Persona 5 Tactica together represent only slightly more than 4% of the total shipments.
- Overall Persona 5 series — 13 million total: Persona 5 + Persona 5 Royal — 10.46 million; Persona 5 Strikers — 2 million; Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight + Persona 5 Tactica — 0.54 million.
