Festival-goers at Primavera Sound were treated to an unexpected highlight this weekend: pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo has dropped in for a surprise set.

On Saturday, June 6, the 23-year-old superstar took to her social media channels to announce that she would be gracing the stage for an impromptu performance later that same evening at the renowned Barcelona festival.

“Surprise!” Rodrigo exclaimed in an Instagram Story, capturing a candid moment of herself flashing a thumbs-up amidst the festival’s buzzing atmosphere. “See you tonight, Primavera Sound… I’m so excited.”

Fans can catch the “Vampire” singer as she headlines the Occident Stage at 10:25 p.m. local time.

The festival organizers mirrored the excitement, sharing a post of the singer with the playful caption: “Spilling our guts.”

This spontaneous appearance arrives just days before the highly anticipated June 12 release of her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Her recent promotional singles, “Drop Dead” and “The Cure,” have already made a massive impact, debuting at No. 1 and No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively.

Rodrigo is no stranger to the Spanish stage, having performed an intimate show for 1,500 lucky fans at Barcelona’s Teatre Grec in early May for her Spotify Billions Club Live series. That exclusive performance, which showcased tracks from her previous albums and a sneak peek of “Drop Dead,” was captured in a concert film that premiered on Spotify on May 27.

Looking ahead, the star is gearing up for her massive 65-date “Unraveled Tour.” The global trek is set to kick off on September 25 at the PeoplesBank Arena in Connecticut, spanning North America, Europe, and the U.K., before circling back to Barcelona for a grand finale at the Palau Sant Jordi on May 1 and 2.

The atmosphere at Primavera Sound remains electric, especially following a challenging Thursday where extreme weather forced the cancellation of sets by major acts like Doja Cat and Massive Attack. After a dramatic, rain-shortened performance by Geese, organizers were forced to pause the event, but the festival has since regained its momentum with triumphant performances from The Cure, Skrillex, and others.
