Despite Nvidia’s firm stance that DLSS 5 does not modify underlying geometry or textures—and the fact that environmental rendering has seen genuine improvements—the skeptical public remains unconvinced.

Understandably, Nvidia has taken to the comments section of its own YouTube trailer to clarify the “intended” purpose of DLSS 5. Responding to accusations of “AI slop” that compromises artistic vision, the company insists that developers retain “granular creative control over DLSS 5’s implementation to ensure the game’s specific aesthetic remains uncompromised.”

Nevertheless, even if Leon S. Kennedy was always meant to resemble a generic, AI-generated “pretty boy” plucked from a Sora prompt, the hit to Nvidia’s reputation is palpable. The online conversation is currently dominated by ridicule. Perhaps it is for the best; if Nvidia is offering a glimpse into a future of “yassified” digital nightmares, a little humor might be the only way to process it.
