Nowruz is a mean of uniting Turkic peoples
Nowruz is one of the brightest, most joyful and beautiful holidays, not only in Kazakhstan, but in the whole Muslim East! Spring festival of Navruz, the oriental New Year, is directly connected with the coming of spring and is celebrated on 21 March, on the spring (vernal) equinox, when day becomes equal to night and when the New Solar Year brings a new phase of renewal. On this exact day of March there was a grand concert in honor of Nowruz at the faculty of Literature of Istanbul University. This ancient day was celebrated in equally historical place in the form of Istanbul University which was built in 1453. Nine representatives of the Turkic peoples participated in this event with dancing, singing and scene programs. Besides, honorary guests of this event were the heads of the faculties and the university. Most memorable performances were except for, “Qara zhorga” dance performed by Kazakh girls, the traditional Bukhara dance by Tajik men and solo live voice song “Samarqand ushshog” by a uzbek lady. Spellbinding performances kept the entire hall in attention. In the program of Kazakhstan apart from dance there were folk songs done with the dombra which made the hall whistle and applaud. During the event not to cool the heat the guests were given Turkish deligths like lukum with hot black tea. At the end of the organizers treated participants of the concert and all the guests with delicious Turkish pilaf. Thanks to our advisor Жанна Кузембекова (Kuzembekova Zhanna) and our university www.kaznu.kz for being a part of this amazing event!
