Hello Games has rolled out update 6.30, Xeno Arena, for No Man’s Sky. The patch drops turn-based tactical creature battles into the space sim, alongside a brand-new faction, a creature genetics system, and PvP arenas aboard the Space Anomaly. The free update launched on April 8, 2026, and is available across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and VR.
Turn-Based Creature Battles
The headline feature of Xeno Arena is full turn-based combat for tamed companions. Players assemble a team from the wild fauna they have adopted across the universe and pit them against AI opponents and other Travellers in simulated battles. Each creature gets a unique moveset based on its species and home climate — attacks, heals, stuns, shields, status effects, dodges, bonus moves and critical hits are all on the table. Companions earn experience from each fight and gradually improve their combat stats.
Eight elemental affinities form a rock-paper-scissors counter system, backed by new combat music, cinematic cameras and a dedicated combat log. To make team-building meaningful, Hello Games raised the maximum number of tamed creatures from 18 to 30.
The Arena League
Wins and losses feed into a brand-new faction called the Arena League. Progression is split across five medal tiers, each tied to guidance missions and exclusive titles. The higher the tier, the tougher the alien commanders waiting for you. Victories pay out nanites, retroviral pellets, and invitations to face increasingly dangerous opponents.
Five exclusive companion creatures are locked behind Arena League milestones: the Corrupted Quadruped, Geno-Prawn, Wandering Shrimp Tank, Boundary Horror, and Aeron Crab.
Morphogenetics and the Egg Sequencer
Companion progression goes well beyond catching and feeding. The reworked Egg Sequencer lets you tinker with creature genetics, boost agility, health and combat-related abilities, unlock mutations and breed a “legacy of champions.” It can now pull resources directly from your freighter inventory, and new retroviral pellets streamline trait upgrades without manually rerolling stats.
Holo-Arenas and Multiplayer
Holo-Arena tables are scattered across the galaxy — at the Space Anomaly, on space stations, in planetary archives, at outposts, and inside select settlements. The Anomaly tables let Travellers challenge each other directly in PvP creature battles. Out in the world, Gek, Vy’keen and Korvax NPCs host matches of their own. A new character, Iteration: Oceanus, runs daily Holo-Arena challenges and tutorial missions for collectors who want a steady stream of rewards.
