Nintendo Switch 2 Without Shovelware? Strict Game Selection Coming to eShop
Veteran Nintendo Switch owners are all too familiar with the platform’s growing pains: the eShop has essentially become a dumping ground for digital shovelware. The Kyoto-based titan has clearly taken note of these quality-control issues, reportedly implementing a much more stringent vetting process for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Instead of allowing a flood of low-effort clones and AI-generated titles to saturate the market, Nintendo is pivoting toward aggressive curation. This shift aims to prevent the next-generation storefront from becoming an unnavigable sea of mediocrity.
Dave Oshry, CEO of New Blood Interactive, recently shed light on this tactical pivot. He highlighted that their acclaimed title, *Dusk*, runs at a blistering 120 FPS on the new hardware. However, even with such technical prowess, the studio is still navigating the approval phase, as Nintendo has become significantly more fastidious during the certification cycle.
Despite the heightened barriers to entry, professional relationships between Nintendo and independent developers remain robust. Oshry emphasized that the gaming giant continues to foster a supportive collaborative environment, offering hope for a more organized, premium-feeling digital ecosystem on the Switch 2.
