New trailer drops for Apple TV+’s biggest comedy
Apple TV’s celebrated sports comedy Ted Lasso is gearing up for its long-awaited fourth season, dropping a brand-new preview ahead of its August 5 premiere. Rather than jumping straight back into the English Premier League where fans last left him, our favorite optimistic coach is heading back to Richmond for a fresh challenge: managing a second-division women’s squad.
The latest trailer hints at fresh growing pains, unexpected behind-the-bars coaching antics, and the familiar spark of complicated romantic tension. Alongside Jason Sudeikis reprising his iconic titular role, Hannah Waddingham returns as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton. Fan favorites Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), Brendan Hunt (Coach Willis Beard), and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) are all set to make their comebacks. Comprising 10 episodes, season four will run weekly until its finale on October 7 on Apple TV.
For a sustained period, Ted Lasso reigned as a true cultural phenomenon. It accumulated an astounding 61 Emmy nominations, with its stellar first and second runs clinching Best Comedy Series. The third chapter proved significantly more polarizing among viewers due to occasionally erratic narrative choices. Given that co-creator Jason Sudeikis initially designed the narrative around a precise three-year roadmap, the storyline felt remarkably conclusive when it wrapped. Even so, Apple officially ordered a revival for Ted Lasso in March 2025.

To jog your memory regarding where things concluded (consider this your official spoiler alert), the finale saw Ted hand over managerial responsibilities to Roy Kent so he could move back stateside to be with his son. Meanwhile, Keeley pitched the visionary concept of an AFC Richmond Women’s division—the very outfit Ted is slated to guide in the upcoming episodes.

While skepticism surrounding the revival of Ted Lasso is entirely valid given how seamlessly the previous season wrapped up, shifting the focus to a brand-new squad offers a clever way to reboot the premise without losing its core appeal. Fortunately, the newest promotional footage leans heavily into the signature warmth and folksy humor that initially propelled the series to stardom. Audiences will discover whether the show can recapture the magic of its golden era when it premieres next week.
