New Ghost Of Yōtei Story Content And Roguelike Mode Arriving In October

Following its acclaimed launch in 2025, which earned it a spot among our top games of the year, Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Yōtei is expanding significantly. You can delve deeper into our thoughts by reading Game Informer‘s official Ghost of Yōtei review. Much like they did with Ghost of Tsushima, the developers previously introduced Legends, a free online cooperative multiplayer mode available now to all base game owners. However, the studio is taking things a step further by bundling brand-new single-player narratives into the upcoming Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition. Existing owners can upgrade for $14.99 starting October 1.

The newly announced single-player expansion consists of two distinct components: Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted.

Echoes of Sekigahara is a rich narrative chapter woven into the established Yōtei timeline. It features poignant flashbacks that illuminate Atsu’s complex relationship with an enigmatic figure named Nagato, while also shedding much-needed light on The Snake—the most elusive member of the Yōtei Six, who is swiftly dispatched during the base game’s tutorial. Exploring Atsu’s formative years between childhood and the main campaign offers brilliant narrative and mechanical potential.

Meanwhile, Most Wanted represents Sucker Punch’s unique take on the roguelike genre, as detailed in an official PlayStation Blog announcement. Players will accept high-stakes bounties to kick off randomized runs, where defeating adversaries yields powerful perks and unlocks playable characters.

Given how brilliantly God of War Ragnarök integrated its Valhalla roguelike expansion, expectations are exceptionally high that Most Wanted will prove to be a phenomenal addition to the experience.

Alongside these substantial additions, the October 1 update introduces a suite of quality-of-life enhancements. These include fresh audio tracks for Watanabe Mode, photo mode improvements, exclusive New Game+ cosmetics, a much-requested transmog option allowing players to “retain an armor set’s visual appearance while utilizing another set’s statistics,” and the cinematic Beauty of Yōtei mode, which transforms the game into a breathtaking, interactive screensaver showcasing the rugged landscapes of Ezo.
