Mortal Kombat 2 Rescheduled Again — This Time to an Earlier Date

Warner Bros. is still searching for the ideal release window for the Mortal Kombat sequel starring Karl Urban.

Mortal Kombat 2 — originally scheduled for October 2025, then pushed to May 15, 2026 — will now arrive a week earlier, on May 8, 2026.

Warner Bros. has once again offered no comment on the latest shift, leaving observers to speculate.

Previously, director Simon McQuoid addressed the earlier delay, saying the film had become “a victim of its own success” after its digital debut. Despite modest theatrical returns (approximately $84 million), the title’s streaming performance made it clear the sequel needed to be scaled up.

“With every new viewing of the original, this sequel kept growing. In the end we built a colossal summer blockbuster — and that’s something to be proud of.”
Simon McQuoid
