Microsoft in talks to buy Take-Two Interactive?

A few days ago online edition SomosXbox reported disturbing news – Microsoft may be in talks to buy the publisher Take-Two Interactive.

Take-Two Interactive owns the major game studios Rockstar Games and 2K, which in turn develop the popular game series Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, Bioshok and Borderlands. It is no wonder that such a tasty publisher is of heightened interest from large companies. However, recently Take-Two’s reputation has faded somewhat amid dirty attacks against the creators of modifications for GTA (for example, attack on GTA: Underground).

Microsoft and Take-Two Interactive have reached a major agreement over the past several months, according to several sources, which includes, among other things, a clause to sell the publisher. Jez Corden, editor-in-chief of Windows Central, commented on the rumors:

“A few months ago, I heard from a couple of trusted sources that the next big company or distributor to acquire would be Take-Two. But it was a long time ago. Although, at the same time, it will take a long time to acquire such a large distributor as Take-Two Interactive. I have no evidence to support this yet. “

Recall that in 2007, Microsoft also planned to acquire the GTA publisher, but the deal did not take place.

If there are indeed negotiations for a sale, then perhaps this is the reason why Take-Two Interactive in a barbaric style prohibits the development of modifications, and thereby whitewash itself in front of potential buyers. What do you think?
