Metroid Dread: “Boss Rush” mode finally available, other additions with v2.1.0

Metroid Dread: the mode

Released in October 2021, Metroid Dread is a game that has delighted the press and the players. But Nintendo and Mercury Steam studios hadn’t planned to stop there, and as announced during the last Nintendo Direct, new modes and additions were supposed to land in the game. It’s now done since today , it is possible to update the game, to upgrade to version 2.1.0 and thus take advantage of the new features. To begin with, there is the famous Boss Rush, which consists of chaining fights against the bosses of the game with specific parameters. There is this option of having to chain 12 confrontations without benefiting from additional health, to beat the maximum of bosses in the space of 5 minutes, or never to be hit in an even more full-bodied Dread Rush mode. As much to tell you that there is enough to wait before the arrival of a new update. And of course, there are also fixes with this v2.1.0, and here is the complete list of readjustments:

New modes added
Three different boss rush modes have been added to the game. Press the R button on the “Samus Files” screen to switch to the Boss Rush selection screen.

Boss Rush
A mode where players fight 12 continuous boss fights and aim for the best time.
Any damage suffered is carried over to the next fight. Weapons are fully restored between battles.
If Samus is defeated, players can select “Retry” to continue playing from the start of the battle they lost. There is however a time penalty in case of defeat.
Bosses fought in Boss Rush can be fought one-on-one at any time by selecting “Practice”.
* Unlocked by beating the main game once. (In case a player completed the game before the update was released, they will be able to play Boss Rush immediately after the update).

Survival Rush
A mode where players see how many bosses they can defeat within the 5 minute time limit.
Any damage received or weapons expended carry over to the next battle. Even if there is time left on the clock, defeating Samus will result in a game over.
Defeating a boss will add a fixed duration to the countdown. Defeat a boss without taking damage to receive an even bigger time bonus.
* Survival Rush is unlocked by completing Boss Rush or Dread Rush.

Dread Rush
The basic rules are the same as in Boss Rush, but if Samus is hit by a boss, her energy drops to zero and she is defeated.
Bosses fought in Dread Rush can be fought one-on-one at any time by selecting “Practice”.
* Unlocked by clearing the main game using Dread Mode. (If a player completed Dread Mode before the update was released, they will be able to play Dread Rush immediately after the update).

General fixes
Fixed an error where the Game Over screen would not display correctly when Samus took damage and was defeated immediately after destroying a CPU.
