Marvel Announces New Disney Plus Series Zodiac

Marvel continues its live-action television slate. At New York Comic Con on Thursday, Marvel Studios announced a brand-new series titled Zodiac for Disney Plus. The mysterious project from Marvel Television is scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus in 2028.

Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming, television, and animation, confirmed the series at NYCC. Winderbaum stated that the show is a spy thriller and will begin filming in London in spring 2027. Casting is currently underway.

In Marvel Comics, the Zodiac name belongs to various criminal organizations with members based on the Western zodiac. These groups are frequently led by a character named Taurus and typically serve as antagonists for the Avengers and SHIELD. Marvel Television has not clarified whether the television series connects directly to those veteran supervillains. However, the show’s title logo features an O styled after the zodiac wheel alongside an A that incorporates the eagle from the SHIELD logo.

Another iteration of the Zodiac in the comics brought together leaders from organizations such as Hydra, SHIELD, and the Hand. Gathered by a man using the moniker Aries—who was actually Leonardo da Vinci—this group sought to reclaim a series of powerful artifacts. The roster included Nick Fury, his younger brother Jake Fury, Dum Dum Dugan of the Howling Commandos, Baron Strucker, and Daniel Whitehall, the Hydra agent Kraken.

Marvel Television has scaled back its live-action output in recent years. In March, Marvel announced a second season of the Disney Plus show Wonder Man, only to cancel it a few months later. Follow-ups to series like Moon Knight, Hawkeye, and Ms. Marvel remain unannounced. Meanwhile, the third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again arrives next year, and the new series VisionQuest debuts on Disney Plus next week. Despite previous reports that Marvel abandoned live-action television, the division currently has between three and five shows in active development.

Marvel Television maintains a busy animation lineup as well. A second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man premieres in January, followed by a third season of X-Men ’97 and three standalone Marvel Zombies specials heading to Disney Plus.
